Description
Gajner Palace, part of the HRH Group of Hotels, was built by H.H. Maharaja Sir Ganga Singhji of Bikaner. The architecture of the palace is fascinating. Although a Hindu king built the Palace, it has a flavour of both Rajput and Mughal architecture, with every area having a distinct feel of the Raj.

Situated on the embankment of a lake, approximately 30 kms from the city of Bikaner, Gajner Palace is spread over 6000 acres. The Palace was used as a hunting resort by the former Maharajas during the days of British rule. Governor General Lord Elgin, Viceroy of India Lord Mountbatten, Prince of Wales (1905) and Lord Erwin (1927) are some of the British dignitaries who have visited the palace for shoots. The Palace has a private wildlife sanctuary, which is home to endangered antelopes (like the chinkara, black buck and neelgai) and other animals. The sanctuary and the lake attract more than a hundred species of migratory birds during the winter months.

Accommodation
Gajner Palace has four distinctive wings:

Dungar Niwas, which has the hotel's eleven historic suites. These were primarily used by British dignitaries during their leisure trips to the Palace.

Mandir Chowk, part of the reception area for dignitaries arriving by train, this is dominated by the presence of an ancient temple and age old Banyan trees.

Gulab Niwas, which has thirty-one deluxe rooms that used to be occupied by railway officers in the past.

Champa Niwas, the recently built section which has a beautiful courtyard with rooms all around it.

Each suite has been meticulously restored to its original grandeur, to recreate the aura of a bygone age.
